Countersunk rivets, also known as nail rivets, POP rivets, blind fasteners and break stem fasteners, are fasteners designed for use in applications where is access to only one side of a work surface. Countersunk head blind rivets create a permanent hold and sit flush to the material surface, making them ideal for applications where a smooth surface finish is desired or to prevent the rivet from catching on machinery components. Nail rivets are installed by inserting the body of the countersunk blind head rivets into a pre-drilled hole, then using a rivet tool to pull the mandrel and expand the nail rivet body and join the two pieces of material. The mandrel is then snapped off and discarded, leaving behind the set countersunk rivet. Countersunk rivets from SRI provide a smooth offside finish and sufficient clearance for moving parts which pass over the rivet head.
